Dipping or spraying black?

We are often asked what the difference is between dipping and spraying. This question applies to our tweed lath and garden fences.

Dipping:
With dipping, the packages are immersed in their entirety in a container with water-thin dipping liquid. Na enige intrek tijd wordt het pakket vervolgens in een rek geplaatst wat een beetje scheef staat, op deze manier vloeit de overtollige vloeistof van het hout af. In some cases, this process is repeated again.

  • This way is cheap.
  • In almost all cases, the result is not even and stripes are visible at the slats.
  • Tuinvision does not use this method.

Spraying:
For wood spraying, the humidity level is very important, preferably 14 to 18% moisture. The boards are stacked and sprayed one by one. This is usually done in spraying carts, in which the boards are turned once (in case of 2x spraying, the boards are turned 2x). Spray paint is somewhat thicker, so it does not penetrate the wood as well. Another disadvantage of this method is that if, for example, sawdust lies on the swede batten, the paint does not creep under the sawdust. After assembly in the garden, a heavy rain shower and the loose sawdust washes away. Now there are small untreated spots visible that need to be touched up.

  • This way is expensive.
  • Unnecessary paint consumption due to spray mist.
  • Possible problems with the presence of sawdust.
  • Nice and even result.
  • Tuinvision does not use this method.

Brush mordant:
Tuinvision only sells black products that have been treated with the brush stain machine. Here, too, the moisture content is very important, preferably 14 to 18% moisture. The boards are placed in the brush stain machine from the package. Brushing clean and staining is done in one operation. The brush stain machine has a filter system that separates the sawdust from the paint. When the boards come out of the machine, they are placed in drying carts. When the paint has hardened, the boards go through the machine for a second time and are placed in the drying carts again. When the boards are dry, they are stacked into packages. Brush-stain quality paint is water-thin, therefore it is perfectly absorbed into the wood and the wood grain remains visible.

  • This way is affordable.
  • Highest achievable quality.
  • Tuinvision only uses this method.
